Big-prize Ocean Art contest open

The Los Angeles-based Underwater Photography Guide, which claims to be the world’s most-visited online instructional resource for underwater photographers, has launched its latest annual contest, with prizes valued at more than US $75,000.

The seventh Ocean Art Underwater Photo Competition accepts entries from amateur and professional photographers in 16 categories until 30 November, when a portfolio of 75-plus winning images is chosen.

Categories include Supermacro, Cold/Temperate Water and Nudibranchs alongside more traditional categories such as Wide-Angle, Macro, Marine Life Portraits and Marine Life Behaviour, says UPG, and “creativity in post-processing” is encouraged.

Winners from each category can rank the prizes they would prefer to receive, choosing from diving holidays and camera gear provided by some 30 dive-resort and liveaboard operators and equipment manufacturers from around the world.
