If you like to keep your phone and tablet with you at all times, including the dive-boat, you can take the drybag route or opt for a case that claims to maintain the instrument's functionality – typing, browsing, making calls, taking underwater photos.
SwimCell cases come in five sizes and five colours and are claimed to meet the highest waterproof rating IPX8, with every unit tested to 10m or 20m before packing. Rotating two twist-lock wheels between thumb and finger opens or closes the case, says Cornish manufacturer Amy Day. Standard phone cases (illustrated) cost £13.99, rising to £24.99 for a large tablet case.
