4-star Maldives resort offers top diving
A 4-star ‘superior’ island resort offering 116 villas “with vibrant, trendy and colourful interiors fused with tropical Maldivian designs”. That’s how Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts describes its OBLU Resort on Helengeli Island.
A 50-minute speedboat ride from Mali International Airport, the island offers outstanding potential for divers and snorkellers, with a rich house reef and channel-diving “just metres from the shoreline”.
“The unique feature of Helengeli house reef is that it lies right at a primary entrance to Male Atoll, in the middle of a channel,” says the company. “Hence fish life, especially pelagics, are plentiful around the reef.”
Overall, the dive sites within easy reach of Helengeli number more than 30, and the island’s TGI Dive & Watersports Centre offers a range of SSI and PADI courses through “highly experienced multilingual dive professionals with a wealth of expertise in the local surroundings”.
Between dives, guests will not want for much. “The OBLU experience offers guests high-quality world cuisine coupled together with a range of activities,” says the company.
In addition to diving and snorkelling, these include watersports, a well-equipped gym, an a-la-carte beach grill and “a serene Garden Spa”.
Prices for two guests for 7 nights including full-board accommodation, transfers and limited diving start at £3750. Additional 10-dive packages are US$510pp.
