Deptherapy shows it can be trusted

Scuba diving rehabilitation charity Deptherapy says it has become the first volunteer-managed and run charity ever to receive the “Trusted Charity Mark” from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).
According to Deptherapy the quality standard is normally reserved for larger charities managed and operated by paid employees. The charity was required to meet criteria in 11 areas such as governance, leadership and management, financial management and cooperation.

The NCVO assessor praised the “robust leadership” of Deptherapy’s Trustee Board, which he said ensured that the charity was led with “transparency and integrity”.
He also said that it had developed both “a very strong reputation as a world leader in adaptive scuba-diving techniques”, and “clear and robust policies and procedures to ensure that the organisation is efficiently run and works to a very high standard”.
The award comes a month before the charity is set to undertake its biggest expedition yet to the Egyptian Red Sea. Thirty divers are travelling to El Quseir to engage in Open Water training and continuing education up to Adaptive Teaching & Divemaster level.
