“Go deeper with a marine biologist as your dive-buddy” is the proposition from Mozambique-based charity Marine Megafauna Foundation for its “MEGA” scuba-diving expeditions for advanced divers, exploring the country’s southern coast and visiting dive-sites not generally available to the public.

Possible sightings include a mobula cleaning station (one of only two known worldwide), mantas, whale sharks, turtles, dolphins, humpback whales and reef sharks.

MEGA expeditions are designed to help fund MMF’s research work.

The seven-day educational trips accommodate up to five guests, run from 15-23 June and 17-25 August, and cost from £2550pp, excluding flights from the UK.

Guests can get hands-on by taking ID photos during boat-based and aerial surveys, helping to build the MMF manta-ray and whale-shark database and learning to identify animals’ maturity and gender while recording environmental conditions.
