Trainee divers ‘stoked’ by £10,000 holiday win

New scuba diver Tim Davis from Chester got a big surprise at DIVE 2018, the Dive Show at the NEC, Birmingham, when he was told that he had won a £10,000 diving holiday for two in Papua New Guinea.
The mega-win came as an even bigger surprise because he hadn’t even known that his name had been entered. His girlfriend Amanda Mulligan had placed the entry for the Show’s annual Grand Prize Draw on his behalf. Fortunately so, because she can now count on accompanying Tim on their first overseas diving adventure.

The couple started diving only this year, with Chester SAC, and have been working towards their BSAC Sports Diver qualifications at the Capernwray inland site. The PNG trip promises to be a warmer proposition.
“We’re stoked – and shocked – by this,” Tim told Divernet. “We started diving wanting to travel, to see pretty fish, big fish, sharks and so on, and now we’ve got the chance.
“We’re hoping to get married next year, so this could make for an amazing honeymoon!”
The prize holiday is sponsored by tour operator Dive Worldwide in partnership with Papua New Guinea Tourism, Lissenung Island Resort and Walindi Plantation Resort.
Tim and Amanda can look forward to two full weeks of world-class diving – their prize includes all return flights and transfers, six nights’ full-board at each of the resorts, and 18 dives each.
