Want to help set a new world record while at the same time doing your bit for the environment? Divers from around the world have been invited to join in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest underwater clean-up.
The event – which is scheduled to happen on 15 June at Deerfield Beach in Florida – hopes to attract more than 700 divers and decimate the current record for ‘Most Participants in an Underwater Clean-up in 24 hours (single venue)’, which was set in Egypt in 2015, which stands at 614.
The record attempt is aiming to highlight the threats facing the oceans, and how important it is to remove debris from the seabed.
Registration closes on 8 June, and all participants will receive a long-sleeved wicking shirt and a small gift bag. Even non-diving volunteers will get a free T-shirt.
