#Askmark., can shoulder dump values be retrofitted and if so can you buy a kit to fit yourself or is it best to have it fitted professionally? Thanks for providing these valuable videos. Looking forward to many more.

#ASKMARK Hello Mark, while out diving recently I talked to an experienced diver who was diving with twins but did not have any manifold on them, i.e. each cylinder had a first stage with a primary and an SPG. One cylinder had the low pressure inflator for his BC. What are the pros and cons of a manifold setup versus independent twins?

Hey mark! I dive a 7mm wetsuit in Southern California and was wondering what the best option for undergarments is. If I wear standard board shorts, they just get all bunched up and uncomfortable. If I don’t wear anything, it’s not the most comfortable.

Yeah, body fitting swim jammers or trunks shouldn’t ride up. There’s no baggy material to bunch up and they tend to stay in place for me. If I dive in wetsuits I tend to wear jammers instead of baggy board shorts.
That or look for rash vest leggings with stirrups at the bottom. Scubapro make a full body rash vest that should stay in position

#askmark my wife and I both have lovely mares avanti Quattro fins for diving. We are going on holiday where for one single day we will need a pair of snorkelling fins. Any recommendations for super lightweight, easy to pack, fins which are not so big and bulky as the ones we have now.

For the lightest snorkelling fins that are nice and compact and won’t cost a lot, you can stick with Mares with their X-One Fins. They’re basically flat and weigh very little. You wear them bare foot and the adjustable heel lets you adjust them to your foot size

While we are talking values… how about replacing o-rings on an Apeks chest inflator. Mine is a bit sticky. I’ve cleaned and lubed but, hey, why not just proactively change the two o-rings. I have not been able to find a diagram indicting the exact size.

All good stuff, I’d just mention that especially with a neoprene suit it is a good idea to check it’s still screwed tight after a couple of dives. But that wasn’t actually what the question asked, ie: ‘can you retrofit a shoulder dump valve and do you need a kit?’ So yes, swapping out an old valve or fitting say a new inflator that has an electrical lead is very easy. But if you decide for some reason you want a new dump on the other shoulder or on a cuff that’s a whole different thing and will involve cutting a hole, gluing in the reinforcement disks and then fitting the valve. I’ve never seen a kit advertised to do this so I would definitely take it to a professional.

`Hi Tim. Agree that swapping like-for-like valves would be something I’d consider swapping myself. However, fitting new cuff or ankle dump valves to a neoprene dry suit is somewhat technical and I’d have them fitted professionally, without hesitation, as the onus to repair falls into the specialists lap.😎🇦🇺🤿👍
