Can I take my dive knife on a plane? | #AskMark #Scuba @ScubaDiverMagazine @kennethwebb5425

@askmark hi Marc, love the videos, big fan! I had a couple of questions regarding traveling abroad by plane. What are the regulations of bringing a dive knive? Seeing it is a ‘weapon', it might get confiscated by customs or airport security. Also where do you store your batteries and electronics (dive computer, torch, etc) main luggage or hand luggage. Many thanks and season greetings Kenneth

Should I Change My Regulator Hoses Every 5 Years? #askmark #scuba
@jeffmoye
Do Miflex hoses need to be replaced regularly? One service tech I spoke to said they need to be replaced every 5 yrs. can’t find anything on their website or brochure about it so I wonder if it’s obsolete news related to the rubber failure issue they used to have?

Dive lights can be considered a heat generating device. Take a close look at the airline’s site. I ended up accidentally destroying my dive light at the airport because the battery was internal and not meant to be taken out; the Japanese airline wanted it physically separated from the heat source, i.e. the light. This was for both checked baggage as well as carry-on.

#askmark Hi Mark, I was wondering I
What’s your opinion on the Mares 28XR 1st stage. I have as the 28XR HR 1st and 2nd stage combo and was also wondering what it’s temperature rating is as I can’t find anything on mares’s website

First impressions are the size, the 28XR is a large 1st stage but, that’s what you want for diving in colder waters. Temperature ranges for Mares Regulators depends on your setup and you can find details in the Regulator Manual that you can read below. With an Octo they recommend diving in temperatures over 4°C and a max depth of 30m for safety if two divers are breathing from a single 1st stage.

I bought myself a lipo guard pouch for my dive ,camera lights as hand luggage. Some airlines prefer this type of safe guard. Do not especially lipo or battery packs in your hold luggage as if the X-ray spots them they will be removed and in some airlines even fined.

Over the next few months I’m taking my dive knife on 8 flights across Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia leaving from the UK. I have the Scubapro Mako Titanium mounted to the bcd weight pocket.

I´m watching your videos on a computer so this vertical format is, well… very suboptimal.

As someone who consumes your content either on a computer or TV, this format is a deal breaker for me. I understand it’s extra work, but what about releasing each video vertically as is (if that’s really what people are asking for), and then releasing one weekly recap in big screen format, like before?

worth noting that dive computers should be carried-on to the pressurized cabin rather than the unpressurized luggage compartment

Luggage compartments are pressurised nowadays. I would still keep it with myself in case of delayed, damaged or lost baggage.

I always bring my prescription mask and my dive computer in my carry on. If my luggage is lost or stolen, everything else is replaceable.

Love the new 1 question per video format. It makes it a lot easier to find 1 specific question. But as many people said before, not a fan of the vertical style, sorry.
