The problem with only having 5 meters (15 feet) of line is that your DSMB won’t reach the surface if you’re at your safety stop and there’s a current or surface wind. Your line won’t go straight up. It’ll be at an angle. Pythagorean Theorem and all that.
Very good points you share. (Oh and practice how to deploy it if you haven’t much experience.)
I was rusty on that skill after only doing in course and had to deploy on a ripping current drift dive… it was interesting but got it done.
