#ASKMARK Hello Mark, while out diving recently I talked to an experienced diver who was diving with twins but did not have any manifold on them, i.e. each cylinder had a first stage with a primary and an SPG. One cylinder had the low pressure inflator for his BC. What are the pros and cons of a manifold setup versus independent twins?

Hey Mark, many thanks for all the great content and advice! I learned a LOT from you! 🙂

I’m a bearded diver like you, and was considering buying an Atomic Venom Frameless mask (I know your opinion of it 😁) and I’ve read many reviews about its great fit.

The challenge is that it is not available locally in my country to try it personally and see how it fits me, and I was thinking of buying one online. Do you think it is a risk worth taking in this case considering its reputation in the fit/face seal department? 🙏

It is a very nice mask but, other masks do work for me as well. If you find a mask that fits you at your LDS then you’re all sorted. Trying on a mask at your local dive centre will always be the best way to check the fit of a mask but, mask skirt designs are so good right now that it’s quite rare that you’ll find one that doesn’t fit and buying online is safe.

While I can’t promise the Venom Frameless will fit you, it definitely should

Many thanks for the feedback! I understand you can’t promise anything 🙂.

I currently have a Scubapro Synergy Twin mask, which is a good one for sure.

But, I thought if I am to upgrade, it would be the Venom Frameless.

The only issue I have with the synergy twin is that if I’m a bit in a hurry and don’t apply a beard balm, it leaks a bit too often and I found myself having to clear it consistently

I used an Aqua Lung Titan in my Class. Mine had the adjustable venturi. I didn’t notice a difference between High and Low settings

Most divers won’t notice if a venturi switch is turned on or off. Their main effect is when the 2nd stage is out of your mouth to prevent a freeflow from forming
