This video has a disclaimer placed by Youtube that it “Includes paid promotion”. Which drysuits in your list were promoted and which made it in the list because they really deserved it?
Glad you brought this up. Many of these SCUBA magazines operate on ‘paid commercial reviews’ – where the manufacturer buys ads in the magazine and then receives a free promotional review of the product; always very positive. (I spent nearly 30 years in the industry).
Great video on dry suits, as a new qualified diver I`m finding some bias to neoprene suits which is causing some hassle for my decision on what suit.
#askMark. Can you review Seal SL01 drysuit
Yes, I’m working on this. It’s tricky because they’re all made to measure suits and I want to do a proper test. It’s definitely on my to do list
Awesome
Hey Mark, thanks for your continued advice.
I really don’t know if I really want to buy a drysuit one is the cost, secoundly I don’t know if I would really need one. Because I dove at 10°C at the Lake of Zurich, I really just felt cold when we went deeper, when it get’s 8°C on the other hand. I would love to get the chance to dive in Winter too.
So I wonder which one would you recommend for someone who can handle 12°c perfecly with a 5mm wetsuit.
The Seac looks nice, Scubapro and of course fourth element. But whish one do I need.
I heard neoprene dry suit were kind of nonsense, but to be honest you never know if someone just wants to sell you an expensive dry suit.
I may would choose Seac, also because of the price or shall I save the money to buy a fourth element.
My goal: I would love to dive once in England, I would love to try ice diving, but just for trying I guess I would rent something.
What’s your experiance with neoprene dry suit and colder water (expect ice diving)?
Neoprene drysuits are usually a lot heavier and less flexible, but they’re warmer on their own, so you might save a bit on undergarments. I have both a neoprene and trilaminate drysuit, and I only use the neoprene one as a backup.
Excellent video! Loved the variety and the info specific to each one is really helpful… … well, helpful in making me realize I’ll probably try to own ten different drysuits. 😂😂😂
Any comments or experience with DiveRite, and how they might compare with these others? I’m new to drysuits and tec / work related gear, but their bcds, & regulators have really impressed me, so I’d love to hear feedback from someone more experienced.
Thanks for all the great content/ advice!
#askmark Hi Mark, have been following you for years now and really value your commentary and insights. Am researching dry suits and was eager to hear your Top 10 list–but was surprised to see no mention of Seaskin. Various forums and lots of users review their Nova (and Ultra) highly, so curious if you wanted to chime in… Thanks!
Yeah, there are so many drysuits out there it was tough to narrow it down to just 10
Does Waterproof still make the D1X? I thought it was discontinued.
Hot water unit is better then a drysuit.
Scubapro Evertech forever
SANTI all the way. 😀 Great product, many options and fantastic customer service!
If you want premium and custom Seaskins Dry Suits can not be beat!
Strange to not see the Dive System on the list as a brand since NATO and the Italian military divers all use them… 🤔 they look fantastic, are made to measure, you can change between kevlar and trilaminate as well as the colour… strange.
for travel Bare aquatrek 1, budget seawolf, best ratio quality/price avatar
Scubaforce Xpedition se, any opinions about this manufacturer and that drysuit ?
Abyss Drysuits are damn near bulletproof. A great value for quality. Built on east coast of Canada. They stand by their products more then any other brand I’ve felt with.
Nothern Diver dive master is a good drysuit?
Lovely suit. Been a while since I’ve been in one but ND make strong drysuits
Which if them will survive 300 dives (one year in my case) with no leaks?
No Bare X-Mission in your list ? It’s by far the best dry suit I’ve ever had!
I have the Bare DryTech front entry suit. Doesn’t have any thigh pockets but it is an easy suit to don/doff by oneself :) I quite like it but omg, I would love to own the 4th element drysuit you showed in this video. I will definitely save up for that one in the future :)
Hello,
It seems that you are forgetting the Beuchat Icberg pro with its front closure which is very comfortable, and still accessible financing.
Which one do i pick then? the waterproof D7X? DUI FLX Xtreme? Can you do one for inner garments as well ? The 4th element innergarment with gel lining, the waterproof inner lining?
we professionals use : Northern Diver
905♥️ The best 👌
What about sf tech?
SF Tech best suit on the market. My TNT pro is about a year old and I’ve had zero problems with it. It’s the fourth drysuit I have owned.
Was about to ask the same :D So happy with my TNT Pro :D It’s for sure on the expensive side but comfort wise, ruggedness and that fit, amazing!
Did you consider a brand from Italy called Dive System?
I love my Viking it’s simple and rugged
I have a 25 Y/O Dui TLS 350 (its older then i am) and its such a amazing drysuit, i put a kubi ring system, rockboots and, Tizip plastic drysuit zipper and a peevalve on it.
Really recommend the Dui TLS drysuit! its amazing
I’m sorry, but have to disagree. I’m glad it works for you but I’ve been through custom CF200 and TLS suits. I’d say they’re merely OK, but DUI as a company is horrifically bad and will no longer see a penny from me. I’ve sent these suits in repeatedly for leaks they claim aren’t there. Why am I so wet then? When fitted they will certainly tell you one thing but then deliver another, one example would be telling them you wear a 200g undergarment and they say no problem. Then deliver a suit that you could easily wear 1000g with and still feel like there is room to go. Asking them “Oh we don’t make suits like that”. Well what’s the point of going custom then? The zip neck seal is so small you better have a small head, and I’m 6’1″ but it fits my oldest son that’s 6’6″ much better than it does me. Again: CUSTOM SUIT! Rudest people, worst support. Maybe they were good 25 years ago. Mine were 15 and 10 years ago, with my most recent bad experience with DUI being just 3 months ago.
Those were 4 dry suits ago and there are definitely better suits on the market. I’m not gonna promote, but gotta throw down that HARD NO for DUI being “amazing”.
@Cliff Owen I do get what you mean. DUI is by far one of the worst company’s in terms of support exc. And for sure there are better suits like the Santi Emotion/Elite. Or procean technical cave that are better quality and price wise.
DUI has also changed allot in the last 10/15 Years and they accept inperfections exc allot easier. There standards are allot lower then they used to be.
If you’re in the UK look no further than the Otter Atlantic
So so true, best suit ever Atlantic Kevlar. Otter are tough, dry and great service.
Othree baby
What’s your opinion to the Seaskin drysuits? Putting this made to measure together on the website is a lot of fun, seeing the acceptable price at the end makes it pretty interesting. I’ve almost bought it, just a bit hasetating if it’s good enough to go to the hassle of importing it in the EU.
I bought a seaskin drysuit and I’m very happy with it. I got the neoprene model (think it’s called Ultra) and it fits great, very good quality. I’ve used it for 2 years now and no issues so far. One thing I recommend it’s to think of all the extras you want to put and the exact configuration you want. I live in the UK so it was easy for me to send it back to upgrade some parts (ie move from neoprene wrists to Si-Tech silicon) but if you’re outside the UK it will be more tricky to send it back and forth so make sure you get the extras you want from the start.
I have a Seaskins dry suit and I absolutely love it. Custom size and all the features I want. Have about 50 dives on it now after a year. Its still in like new condition.
Sir, what is the dry suit in the cover photo of the vedio plzzz, that orange one
That’s an Ursuit, talked about in the end of the video.
Got a custom fit O’Three Ri2-100 with dry gloves. A touch pricey but the crushed neoprene makes a world of difference. I’ve used a spare club one for the last 12 months and couldn’t be happier with how rugged it is, and how their customer service works.
Another company worth checking out is Hammond. Another UK based one, they make custom tri-lams. One of my buddies got measured up for one at the last dive show. Considering the price (about £1200) it looks and functions just like the Argonaut 2.
Can’t beat O Three.
Where are the new Apeks Termiq Dry drysuits? We Need a review about them 👌🏻😎
👍
Merci beaucoup 👍👍👍
Perfect timing! 😊
