#AskMark I hear about how you should have a backup of everything, including your dive computer. along with how you should buy a dive computer that can grow as your skills do…. but if you should have two; wouldn't it be sensible to start out with a cheaper (something like Cressi Leonardo) as your first dive computer then just have that become your backup computer later on?

#askmark Using a Longhose config, angle adapter on the 2nd stage yes or no? And if yes, 90° or 110°? What are the dis-/advantages?

Hi Mark,
regarding your comments about the scratchiness and floatiness of braided hoses… would there be a chance to have you comparing them to the new Miflex XT Tech hoses (which apparently should solve both problems)? It would be nice to get your opinion about them . Are they the problem-solvers as they are advertised? #askmark
Thank you very much

Do you find a difference in the amount of ‘clicks’ open a Drysuit exhaust valve needs to be for Sitech vs Apeks? Just got a new suit that has Sitech as they said they couldn’t get hold of Apeks. Also, how many clicks open or closed to you have it? #AskMark

#askmark Hi. How do I move backwards if I get too close to corals?

#askmark having accidentally set my Suunto D5 to gauge mode instead of free for some casual snorkelling before some dives, I discovered that if you use gauge mode at all it will immediately lock you out for 48 hours – why is this a thing and in what circumstances is it useful? Why would you want a computer to be one use only?
Thanks for answering my question!
i agree backfinning is frustrating but a good skill to know. i have to try it again with a side reference to see progress.
#askmark for boltsnaps should you go with mating marine grade or can you buy descent SS one and prep them for scuba?
#askmark question when service is done on your BCD or reg 1st 2nd stages etc, what do they actually do when these services occur as i have always been interested thank you Mark…
Hi Mark
Great reviews as always, i did have a question #askmark #answer #Scuba quick questions does the EON Core have alerts like sound or vibration as i cannot find answer to this anywhere, appreciate your thoughts, thank you Mark
Hey Philip, Yes, the EON Core does have audible alerts, they may refer to them as ‘tones’ in the menu but, the EON Core does not have vibration alerts. That’s still a relatively new feature for dive computers.
@Scuba Diver Magazine really appreciate the information and thank you as the information never allows you to hear the actual tones and so it is very confusing and you have now provided real comfort around this thank you :)
I’ve been diving normal Miflex braided hoses, including for my long hose, for a bit more than 400 dives, including many warm water dives and have never experienced any “floatiness” or scratchiness behind my neck.
Not sure what all the complaints are about.
#askmark Hey Mark, great stuff in all your videos, thanks for them! I have a debate with my buddies about a specific danger of regulator failures. Not the stop-of-airflow side (it is obvious) but the other end of the spectrum – overblowing our breathing system.. Some say technically it is possible to get in a life-threatening situation in case a first stage fails in a specific way (probably combined with second stage failure at the same time), while others say it is technically impossible to get a dangerous pressure in your mouth (and way forward). Their argument is that even with extreme failure of the regulator (broken spring etc.) the worst case is a stop or a free flow but never a high pressure in the mouth. Where is the truth?
I actually dove with a leonardo for years. Mark nailed it. On technical dives it’s running in gauge mode so I have a bottom timer and depth gauge along with notes on my slate to use in case the primary computer takes a dump. The Leonardo is an awesome little computer for any recreational diver
👍again enjoyed the information 👍
The main benefit of braided hoses for traveling divers is, imho, not the lighter weight, but their flexibility. They’re so much easier to store in your reg bag!
12 years is really not a lot 😊. Nothing less than 25-30 years is a lot.

What do you think about the Poseidon XStream as a regulator set. I‘m thinking about buying one but recent reviews a very rare and I don’t want to spend this amount of money while being unsure. Thx a lot
I had a set a few years back and loved them. They’re powerful and I think I needed an adaptor to fit standard fitting hoses to them but, they may have changed the fitting since. But, I really like them.
Thank you
