What is the fascination of scuba diving the Maldives, is a very good question and one that many new divers often ask us. With such biodiversity, scuba diving in the Maldives offers everything from small critters to bigger pelagics like whale sharks and manta rays. Couple this with accommodation that even on the budget end can be quite luxurious and the uncrowded dive sites, is what draws over 100,000 scuba divers to the Maldives each year.

What Is the Fascination of Scuba Diving the Maldives?
#ScubaDiving #AggressorAdventures #Scuba
***** THANK YOU FOR WATCHING *****
Looks amazing! Definitely a bucket list must-do!
You should!
The Maldivian government have just approved hunting Sharks.
I won’t visit the Maldives because of this.
Plenty of other nice places in the world to explore that don’t support this
My general rule is to avoid holidays in countries practicing Sharia law, regardless of how good the diving may be.
Wow that’s some commitment, you are missing out on so much good diving.
@Scuba Diver Magazine So people have morals…many others don’t.
Maldives is such a paradise and dream for any diver! My wife and I paid our third visit to Maldives only three months ago: 1st week on liveaboard followed by 2nd week on Rethi Faru Resort, Filaidhoo Island, Raa Atoll. There are amazing dive sites nearby Filaidhoo operated by Sea Explorers, a top notch PADI dive center. We saw everything we came for and more: sharks (everywhere), mantas, eagle rays, black blotched rays, octopus, dolphins, giant groupers, whale sharks, cuttle fish, trevallys, massive amount of coral fish, lobsters, critters. Can’t wait to go back…
My wife and I are planning a trip to Maldives next year for our anniversary, we have looked and a live aboard that does the South atolls but to get there at the harbor the liveaboard leaves from you have to take a sea plane. How do you pack your gear? Their sea plane website states only one luggage bag (up to 20kg) and a backpack (up to 5kg) there is no way to pack all our gear (scuba, cameras, batteries, chargers, clothes) into two things that lite. How do you pack?
Hi @Ghost Bear: When my wife and I scuba travel, our bags usually weigh in at 25-26 kg each (including all scuba gear, camera gear, plain clothes and toilet bag) and our backpacks weigh in at 6 kg each. Prior to our arrival in Male back in January we were informed that the domestic airline would charge us 5 USD per extra kilo – which we had budgeted for. But to our surprise they didn’t charge us a penny for the overweight – they only weighted our bags at the airport, put their “heavy” tags on our bags and politely pointed us to the gate. Noteworthy: fellow divers on the same flight didn’t pay for their overweight either. We experienced the same procedure when we visited Maldives back in 2017 and 2019. My only conclusion is that visiting divers are an important income source and traveling to non-Male liveaboards and/or dive resorts on the islands would be pretty impossible without exceeding their general weight policies. Lastly, congrats to your anniversary and enjoy the deep south – you’re up for a real scuba treat :-). All the best / Pelle Lidell – Stockholm, Sweden.
Thank you so much for that information! That will help us out. Do you recommend the north or south for the best diving? From reviews everyone says Deep South the best.
Hi again@Ghost Bear: the deep south is a must!
I’m dreaming of it…
What is your favourite dive site in the Maldives and why?
