Hi Mark,
I just saw your video about diving with seals. As you said diving with seals is on the bucket list for many divers, so do on mine.
I would like to ask what place (in the UK or EU) would you recommend to visit & what time of year is the best bet to encounter those adolescent seals?

#askmark any mask recommendations for gents with bears such as yourself?
Diving with Bears? Sounds dangerous…
I presume you mean beards, there are a few things that you can do to help create a good seal on your top lip. The first being a mask with a softer skirt so that the silicone can mold better around your facial hair.
I also like to use a small amount of beard balm on my top lip to create a better seal.
Otherwise you just need to get used to that little bit of water around your nose unless you want to invest in a full face mask

#askmark Thanks for info about seal drysuit :) There is a lot of info about dry gloves, but little info about under gloves for chilly water diving… So, I am interested in your opinion about more DIY (other than scuba diving manufacturers) under gloves solutions, winter wool, running gloves… Thanks again! :)
I use ‘regular’ gloves from time to time and they do the job just fine. It mainly comes down to the cuff of the glove. A lot of them have quite long cuffs that create bulk around your wrist and they may not work as well as a scuba-specific glove liner when wet.
@Scuba Diver Magazine I have DUI drysuit, and zipseal system doesn’t have that problem. I use fleece gloves for runing..But yesterday, for example on dive, water was around 6 degrees..and my fingers were almost numb after 30 minutes 😂 But we finished planned route 😁

I’d advocate Lundy Island more than the Farne Islands. Weather is generally more stable, with often much better vis.

Lundy (Devon) was fab – we went in the summer and we had them coming out to play with us for a few hours.
@scubadivermagazine #askMark in one of your older videos you mentioned that your backup mask has an anti-fog coating. Who makes them & where can it be purchased? Thanks as always for the entertaining content.
I believe it was a TUSA product. If you search online for “TA0801 Freedom Film” they make a single lens and twin lens film. they look incredibly similar to what I have in my backup mask.
