Which Wetsuit Is Best for Diving in Florida? | #askmark #scuba | @ScubaDiverMagazine
@kyleknickerbocker8650
#askmark I'm moving from the west coast of the US to Florida. I currently dive a 7mm wetsuit with hood and gloves. I am being told a 3mm will cover most of my needs now. What would be a good cost effective exposure protection to look into?

I just dove in WPB in a Sharkskin Chillproof, water temp was 76F. 3MM is all you need in SFL
Henderson!
#askmark I’m going on a liveaboard in Egypt in March and since I also want to see and do other things than diving I’m going backpacking the week before or after. To save weight I want to switch my 5mm steel backplate for a 3mm aluminium backplate. That means I have to take my whole wing apart and since I bought my wing second hand I never took it apart completely (just small bits at a time). I’m worried that I will put it back together the wrong way. Anything I need to think about when putting together a wing? It’s a Tecline btw.
The parts that usually catch me out when reassembling the harness are the bottom of the shoulder strap and which way hardware needs to face.
The harness will have creases where your D-Rings need to go and where the shoulder strap becomes the waistband to help you remember.
Mark one side of the shoulder strap with chalk to remind you which is the inside and which is the outside. Otherwise it’s just trial and error
@Scuba Diver Magazine Helpful tips, thanks!
I dive in the keys a lot. 70-85 is the rough temp range. In the summer just a rash guard, in the winter a 3 mil. Maybe a 5 mil if ur diving the speigle grove and going to 100ft+. There are tons of dive shops and a divers direct super store in key largo where u can try on a wet suit b4 u buy.

Looking for a new mask with a larger field of view, preferably single lens. I’m currently diving VX1 and the lens is starting to feel small. I’m looking at the TUSA Zensee but wondering if the Paragon S also offers a large view?
Thanks,
Doug
Zensee has a great field of view and I love TUSA masks. The frameless design will give it a larger FOV than the Paragon.
Another mask worth considering would be the Atomic Frameless 2 mask. And with a clear silicone skirt it can help you notice things around you. That and the Zensee are going to give you the largest FOVs available
Well South FL, I wear a rash guard and tech shorts until November then Nov-Feb 3 mm (cheap evo). Never done north fl
It really only gets in the 60s in very northern florida. In areas where diving is popular in Florida it never really gets colder than 73F
