I have a few Q. First reg. regulator. Somehow I like Mares very much due to quality of breathing. My question is about the side channel or metal pipe in second stage, does it prevent from free flow a little bit? I am just to buy lots of goods for me and my wife and fighting between Mares Fusion or new Atlas …. or Aqualung Legend MBS. Second Q I would like to help my wife with under water position and think about Aqualung Axiom/Soul BCD. What do u think about them? Thank you.

I would like to #AskMark if he could explain the “durability” difference between standard and premium trilaminate drysuits. Specifically plastic zippers vs metal, sewn and taped vs sewn and glued seams, and “more durable” materials. Conventional wisdom is that metal, glued, and premium fabrics will last “longer” and be “more durable” but no one seems to be able to quantify these extremely subjective terms. Certainly not enough to justify what frequently is a 50% price difference. Thanks, you are a wealth of info and excited to see what you do at your new home!

what are your thoughts on twinsets being mounted valves down?

hello Mark can you explain why I have found that the inflator hose connection is different on some BCDs and some are not interchangeable. Thanks Joe

Mark, would you buy a Perdix AI or the new Perdix 2? I know with the software upgrade you can add more transmitters to the Perdix AI. Thoughts?

can you please explain wave “swell period” as it relates to shore diving. I dive a lot in Laguna Beach, CA

Do Miflex hoses need to be replaced regularly? One service tech I spoke to said they need to be replaced every 5 yrs. can’t find anything on their website or brochure about it so I wonder if it’s obsolete news related to the rubber failure issue they used to have?

I have been led to believe the longer the swell period the higher the surge or pushing force for a wave of the same crest & trough height. I think it is because the approach and departure angle of the wave is flatter there is a much greater volume of water above/below sea level on the very leading & trailing part of the wave – so it has more mass & thus more embodied energy. Happy to be corrected if I have misunderstood why my avid surfing mate not only looks at wave height but the swell period when looking to go out.

#askmark. Hi, Good luck with Scuba Diving Magazine. My question is: Do I need to service my BCD as I need to service my regulator ?

Hi, I enjoy your content. Please continue to make great videos. A little side note about DIN. It actually stands for “Deutsches Institut für Normung” or in english “German Institute for Standardization”.

They’re literally called ‘Grid Panels’. They’re made for shop displays but they’re handy to hang your gear from

What are the best regs for ice diving?
Is there a depth limit for regulators to which they’re tested? Not that I’d ever get anywhere close to those limits, but asking since Nuno Gomes had a 1st stage failure in his world record attempt at 280m.
