The main stage at DIVE 2018 will feature an inspiring line-up of guest speakers.

In-hall presentations, mini-theatres, two pools and zones dedicated to UK diving, overseas travel, tek diving, u/w photography and skills development. All these, and much more, will be on hand for scuba divers of all levels to explore and enjoy at DIVE 2018.

The inspiring line-up of diving presenterat this year’s show – which takes place over the weekend of 27/28 October at the NEC Birmingham – includes Monty Halls, Doug Allan, Christine Grosart, Tom (The Blowfish) Hird, Paul Rose, Mark Powell and Rich Walker.

Topics covered will range from cave exploration to adventure diving and encounters with big marine life.

A major draw will be underwater photography and film-making – on the main show stage (pictured), in the dedicated PhotoZone Theatre, and at exhibition stands offering the latest cameras, underwater housings and accessories.

DIVE 2018 visitors will also have the chance to vote for their favourites from a stunning range of images in the BSoUP Prints Competition Gallery.

Of significant interest will be the Tek Deck, with expert presentations designed to appeal both to existing technical divers and to anyone thinking of extending into more ambitious diving.

In-water opportunities will feature strongly at DIVE 2018.

The Try-Dive Pool will offer that first sampling of what could lead to a lifetime of diving pleasure, with experienced supervisors on hand to ensure that safety rules. For advanced divers, the Tek Pool will enable visitor to try out gear including rebreathers.

And expect a certain number of mermaids in the pools from time to time this year – coach Marcus Greatwood says that the current popularity of mermaiding is proving a great help in attracting more people to the sport of freediving.

When it comes to dive gear, the New Products Showcase with offer an important overview to help visitors pinpoint products that merit further investigation when touring the many retailer, manufacturer and distributor stands.

And a wander round the show hall will reveal travel-themed hotspot such as the Caribbean Village, the Asia-Pacific Showcase and, of course, the British Isles Experience with its lively bar providing the ideal place to catch up with diving friends old and new.

Admission to DIVE 2018 costs £14.50 on the day – but only £9.50 if you book online in advance. Children under 14 with an adult go free.

Should I Change My Regulator Hoses Every 5 Years? #askmark #scuba

Do Miflex hoses need to be replaced regularly? One service tech I spoke to said they need to be replaced every 5 yrs. can’t find anything on their website or brochure about it so I wonder if it’s obsolete news related to the rubber failure issue they used to have?
