Cressiâs new Thor (left) and Thor EBS (right, above) fins are claimed to provide greater thrust for less effort, by combining two different materials to produce rigidity and flexibility where itâs most effective.

Back-rolling into the water – by this stage, you want to be sure that all’s well with your equipment.

Central ribs enable the blade to cup the water and two vents help to stabilise the fin, says the maker. The standard Thor comes with a rubber heel-strap, while the EBS version is equipped with bungee and said to be easy to don and doff even wearing coldwater gloves or thick mitts. Thor fins cost £94, Thor EBS £102.

Do Miflex hoses need to be replaced regularly? One service tech I spoke to said they need to be replaced every 5 yrs. can’t find anything on their website or brochure about it so I wonder if it’s obsolete news related to the rubber failure issue they used to have?
