Dive Worldwide has what it reckons is a unique offering in the shape of a week-long resort-based âdiving adventureâ with the possibility of big marine-life encounters.
The nutrient-rich waters of the Sea of Cortez are among the planet’s most biologically diverse locations, it says, and sightings could include whale sharks, hammerhead sharks and sea-lions. The best months for such encounters are between September and November, it says.
The diving is concentrated around Espiritu Santo island, said to host more than 30 species of marine mammals and 500 species of fish.
Diving highlights may include interacting with the 200-strong colony of sea-lions at Los Islotes; spotting hammerhead sharks at El Bajo; and witnessing schooling jacks at Isla Las Animas. Trips to watch grey whales are available between February and April.
Guests can choose from two resorts on the shores of the Sea of Cortez in La Paz – La Concha Beach Resort or Costa Baja Resort & Spa.
Prices start from £2045pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ B&B, five days’ diving (10 boat dives), flights from the UK and transfers.
