So that is day two of the Dive and Conservation Fest here on the sun-kissed island of Grenada in the bag.
Today the participants were diving with ScubaTech Dive Centre, and they headed out to the wreck of the Hildur, which is now becoming smothered in soft corals and sponges; the Underwater Sculpture Park, with its otherworldly figures that are slowly being taken over by nature; and Flamingo Bay, with its thriving reef teeming with marine life.
The evening's activities focused on Marine Protected Areas, of which there are several in Grenada, and the panel discussion – again moderated by Tiffany Geer from Aquanauts Grenada, and featuring avid conservationist Miranda Krestovnikoff and Roland Baldeo, from the Grenada Coral Reef Foundation – revolved around how important Marine Protected Areas are around our blue planet, and how these safe havens can be effectively marketed to the mainstream public.
