The basecamp for Dive Project Cornwall is emerging from a previously barren field at Porthkerris as it continues to seek donations to its Crowdfunder campaign, with the aim of achieving its funding goal of £40,000.

The project, which is a not-for-profit community interest company, has raised over £180,000 to deliver the educational tools to schools, but still needs support to reach the final target.

With money raised so far through sponsorship and donations (without a penny of government or grant funding) Dive Project Cornwall is becoming a reality, and 400 young people from around the UK will get their first taste of diving. The children taking part will find themselves at an amazing venue, with a purpose-built campground featuring large tents, a fire pit and seating, an awesome briefing/relaxing area known as the Dragon’s Pit, a kitchen with water and power, even herb gardens, all with an outstanding view out over the Cornish coastline.

Since its inception, like many organisations, Dive Project Cornwall has seen its cost base rise exponentially, with increases in almost every provision being offered, hence the Crowdfunder – click here to donate now.

If you needed any more convincing, take a look at the Dive Project Cornwall competition video entries from schools up and down the country. Andy Forster, the founder of Dive Project Cornwall, said: “The imagination, creativity and overall effort has been truly inspiring, and the passion for marine conservation from our young people is joyful.”
