Several renowned diving destinations are among the list of countries that can be visited by those living in England quarantine-free.
These include Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, Cyprus, Dominica, Fiji, French Polynesia, Grenada, Iceland, Malta, New Zealand, the Seychelles, St Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The government has published a full list of countries for which quarantine will not apply to people arriving back into England, which comes into effect from 10 July. However, countries such as the US, China, Sweden and Portugal are not, which means arrivals from these countries will have to isolate for 14 days.
However, it is important to remember that about half of the countries and territories on the list have restrictions for visitors arriving from England. For example, visitors to Iceland can either choose to pay for a test or go into quarantine, New Zealand has barred almost all foreign travellers from visiting, and Australia still imposes a 14-day quarantine on arrival.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “Instead of quarantining arrivals from the whole world, we will only quarantine arrivals from those countries where the virus is sadly not under control.”
Scotland and Wales have yet to announce whether they are going to ease travel restrictions, and said that England's changes were ‘shambolic'. Northern Ireland is retaining its quarantine rules as well, which apply to anyone arriving from outside the UK and Republic of Ireland.
