Carpe Diem Maldives is expanding its operations to include a pool-villa resort in the northern Raa Atoll alongside its three liveaboards.
Scheduled to open in June 2018 in Raa Atoll, it promises an easy-going atmosphere, a healthy house reef and a “significantly large lagoon”.
There are 10 room categories, and five over-water pool-villas have been assigned for solo travellers looking to avoid a single supplement by sharing twin-bed accommodation.
A full-board stay at Carpe Diem Beach Resort & Spa includes alcohol and access to an inflatable water park. There will also be restaurants, a spa and an over-water tapas and sunset club.
The company says it will offer year-round liveaboard cruises that can be combined with a resort stay.
The resort is a 15-minute boat ride from Hanifaru UNESCO Marine Biosphere in Baa Atoll, renowned for the annual manta-ray migration from May to November.
Full-board nightly rates for a villa accommodating two adults and two children or three adults start from US $899, and for solo travellers in an over-water pool-villa from $450. The resort is taking bookings now.
