Malaysia is Home to an assortment of spectacular Nudibranchs

It takes dumb luck and a keen eye to find these prismatic molluscs of the sea, yet once found, these fascinating creatures showcase an entrancing spectacle of diversified colours, shapes and sizes. Nudibranchs (aka sea slugs) are marine molluscs that live on or near the sea floor, possessing no shells after their larval stage. The tentacles on their heads are known as rhinophores, which help them smell, taste, and move around, while their bright colours help deter or camouflage from potential predators. Nudibranchs are also hermaphrodites, altering their sex and mating with any adult they find.

Below is a compilation of these wonderful alien-like critters spotted on Malaysian Islands (Aur Island, Mabul Island and Tenggol Island)

Tenggol Island is part of a group of islands within the southern regions of the Terengganu Marine Park. Most people visit the Tenggol for its amazing diving possibilities; there are 20 dive sites around the island. Non-divers could enjoy some snorkeling around the island.
