Wildlife Photographer of the Year is one of the biggest international photo competitions around, and the public gets a chance to participate through its People’s Choice Award for an outstanding individual entry.
The choice is between 25 images pre-selected by the organiser of the competition, London’s Natural History Museum, from the almost 50,000 submissions it received from 95 countries in 2016.
The shortlisted images are currently on display with the 100-strong winning 2016 portfolio at the museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
They will be highlighted there until the online People’s Choice voting closes on 10 January, after which the winner will be showcased until the exhibition ends in September.
Divernet wouldn’t dream of trying to influence your choice, but would only point out that four of the 25 are underwater images – by Marco Gargiulo, Andrea Marshall, Ally McDowell and Sergio Sarta.
