The Garmin Descent Mk3i 51mm dive-computer and smartwatch is now available with a two-toned black and silver PVD titanium design, with black/pebble grey silicone band.
The 51mm is the larger of the Descent models – the other has a 43mm diameter. The price is £1,400.
Software updates include “Setup Sharing”, a feature designed to synchronise two Garmin dive- computers so that each unit can function as a fully interchangeable back-up to the other. Settings and tissue load can be synchronised using the facility, says Garmin
Also new is “Sidemount Tank Switch Guidance”, which enables a diver with sidemounted tanks and using a compatible Descent computer paired with a Descent T2 transceiver to receive a visual reminder to switch tanks at a preset pressure value.
This should ensure that tank buoyancy is kept balanced and the redundant gas supply properly managed throughout the dive, says the manufacturer
