Darion Pietersz has become the first dive instructor trained through the Murphyn Henar Foundation, which was created in memory of one of Buddy Dive‘s most well-known Divemasters, and seeks to inspire and educate young people into the world of dive professionals on the island of Bonaire.
Darion started at Buddy Dive Resort in the carwash, grew into a Divemaster, and has now completed his journey to become a PADI Scuba Instructor. The management team at Buddy said: “We are beyond proud and excited for Darion and can’t wait to see him grow into an amazing instructor!”

The Murphyn Henar Foundation was created in loving memory of ‘Murph’, with a mission to give young adults on Bonaire the opportunity to learn to dive, gain experience, and build a future in the diving industry. By training and guiding local youth, the Foundation seeks to create real careers, independence, and a stronger future for Bonaire’s dive community.
