The best thing about the GO Diving Roadshow being held at NDAC this weekend (17-19 September) is the fact that as well as walking around exhibitor stands, listening to speakers and taking part in workshops, you can actually go diving!
The GO Diving Roadshow โ which is sponsored by Tobago Beyond โ promises a whole host of activities and attractions for non-divers and divers alike, but the allure of the quarry waters will be hard to ignore.
As these photographs from James Neal showcase, NDAC is home to all manner of sunken attractions, from armoured cars, Land Rovers, helicopters and buses to fishing boat, yachts, mines, aircraft parts and much, much more.
Whether you are a newly qualified diver or a veteran technical diver, there is something for you, with depths ranging from just a metre or so to well over 70m. The attractions are scattered throughout all depth ranges, so keep your eyes open.
The whole concept of the event is to get like-minded divers together โ the COVID situation has been hard on all of us, and it will be fantastic to get together to dive, chat and generally enjoy the social side of diving, which has been missing while we have been in various stages of lockdown!
The idea is that visitors can go for a dive, then enjoy whiling away their surface interval with a mooch around the exhibition marquee (Scubapro, Fourth Element, OโThree, PADI, DAN, Nammu Tech, Midlands Diving Chamber, Shearwater Research, Scuba Escape, as well as tourism experts from the British Virgin Islands, the Philippines and Tobago), are among the exhibitors attending), sitting in on a photography workshop from Anne and Phil Medcalf, or Paul โDuxyโ Duxfield, having a โdiver MOTโ health check with Divers Alert Network, then maybe doing a tech trydive on sidemount or a CCR, and then at the end of the day, once the diving is done, enjoying a drink or two in good company while listening to some awesome speakers (not to mention tucking into a BBQ on the Friday night!).
Theย Main Stageย will be home to our keynote speakers โ TV presenter and authorย Miranda Krestovnikoff and cave diver and explorerย Phil Short (Friday) and underwater photographer and conservationistย Ellen Cuylaerts and Thai cave rescue heroย Chris Jewellย (Saturday night). Adventurer, stunt man and tech diverย Andy Torbetย will be around on Friday morning before he dashes off to Scotland for a TV shoot, andย Clare Duttonย will also be talking about Scuba Escape team and their various underwater โescape roomsโ on Friday afternoon.
