CASUALTIES OF PRESSURE, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, AND A NEW CHALLENGE ON THE HORIZON FOR SOMEONE?
As our dry dive season temporary closes till the autumn, we reflect on the fun experiences we gave to the dive centres, clubs and individuals that braved the 50m dive and asked to do the daftest of things. In some cases, we didnโt even ask, the daft things just happened all by themselves.
On one dive, somebody was laughing that much they slid off the chair onto the floor of the chamber and, as they couldnโt get up, they made themselves quite comfortable.
This then started the group off in fits of uncontrolled laughter that could be heard the other side of Warwickshire. Although the attempts to get vertical were memorable to those on the outside, those on the inside seem to have forgotten once surfaced. Not many could remember what they had been laughing at, or the fact they had been laughing at all.
We wonโt let on what the games you are given to do, but there were casualties from these events โ over 200 ping pong balls didnโt survive, numerous tennis balls were squished, and sheets of neoprene became so compressed there was no return for them.
Talking of casualties of hyperbaric work, our chamber toilet โ nothing special, just a caravan portable toilet โ after many years of service to the diving community finally broke beyond repair. This toilet has seen many bottoms of those in need and probably done more dives than most divers we know.
