Great news for divers, Travel bubble with NZ will be opening up for 2021.
The long awaited news that we can freely move between New Zealand and Australia is finally here.
Health Minister Greg Hunt is quoted as saying
”It is first step on a return to international normality.”
“We consciously opened up Australia to people coming from NZ because their case numbers were negligible and we knew there would come a time when our case numbers would give them confidence. Now this gives the chance for New Zealanders and Australians to visit New Zealand without having to quarantine”
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden said regarding the travel bubble
“It is our intention to name a date in the New Year, once remaining details are locked down, adding that New Zealanders were desperate for a “much-needed summer break”.
New Zealand are also set to open borders with the Cook Islands Ms Arden added
“The airlines themselves need a bit of time to prepare to make sure they have sufficient planes and crew to fly the routes we're talking about, both with the trans-Tasman and the Cook Islands. This year may have been dominated by COVID-19, but for me, this year was the year of the team Just as our health response has put us at the front of the pack globally, our economy has also recovered better than expected”.
The fact that the Cook Island have had NO cases of Covid 19 during the whole pandemic is truely amazing. We cant wait for the trans-Tasman Travel Bubble to begin!
