Paul Rose and Dawn Kernagis, both star speakers at the DIVE 2016 show at the NEC, Birmingham last October, headline again together in March, this time at a fund-raising event in London.
The occasion is the Dive Lectures 2017, presented by the London Diving Chamber at the Royal Geographical Society, Kensington Gore at 7pm on Wednesday 8 March.
The fund-raiser is the biggest of the year for the Scuba Trust, the charity set up to encourage people with disabilities to dive. The event is now in its 18th year, but research scientist Dawn Kernagis is its first female speaker in nearly 12 years.
She is set to talk about her time with the NEEMO 21 NASA mission in Florida, spending eight days on Aquarius, the world’s only undersea research station, with astronauts, engineers and fellow-scientists.
Paul Rose is one of the world’s most experienced science expedition leaders – and also an ever-popular speaker at the RGS, of which he was formerly vice-president.
In recent years he has been exploring and diving in some of the most remote and challenging regions of the planet with National Geographic Pristine Seas Expeditions. His talk is entitled “Changing the World – One Dive at a Time”.
