US manufacturer Halcyon is inviting divers who use its equipment to share short stories, photos or videos about it. Its ‘Halcyon Was There’ community story project is intended to celebrate the 30 years since the Florida-based company started in business.
“Over time, a diver’s gear becomes a part of the experience, some parts of it remaining in use throughout many dives and often shared by multiple students and inspected during pre-dive checks by numerous dive-buddies,” says the company. “A diver’s gear is not something divers necessarily focus on, but it definitely is something they rely on.”

From 15 May through to 15 November, Halcyon invites divers to either show off their gear in everyday use, or to share how a particular piece of equipment has contributed to a personal diving milestone. Divers are encouraged to reflect on one or all of three themes: how the kit stood the test of time, where it took them and what it meant to them
It asks for a short story (it can be as brief as a paragraph) with a photo or video clip. Context might include where you were diving, how long the gear has been used and any unique or rigorous conditions in which it was used.

The stories can be shared on social media by tagging @HalcyonDiveSystems and using #HalcyonWasThere, or by submitting direct to Halcyon.
The company plans to feature selected stories across its channels as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations, and divers whose stories are selected will receive small items of Halcyon gear. At the end of the project, one contributor will receive a limited-edition 30th Anniversary Symbios Handset. Find out more from Halcyon.
