A 49-year-old diver has died following an incident in the Orkney Islands. He is understood to have been exploring a wreck in Scapa Flow on Tuesday morning (24 July), according to a report in the Press and Journal.
The diver, who was not from Orkney, was unconscious on the dive-boat when the Stromness lifeboat and Coastguard rescue team arrived.
He was taken ashore while attempts were made to revive him, but was pronounced dead by ambulance crew at Houton Pier.
The police, who have yet to name the diver, said an investigation was under way and a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A 50-year-old scuba diver has died following an incident in Scapa Flow in Orkney.
Emergency services responded when the alarm was raised at around 11.30am on Tuesday (23 April). The man, as yet unnamed, was taken to Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall, where he was pronounced dead, according to Police Scotland.
A police investigation is under way and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
