WW1 Channel wreck resource now available
Sure to be of benefit to UK wreck-divers is a new interactive-map viewer called Forgotten Wrecks of the First World War.
It brings together the results of the four-year Maritime Archaeology Trust Heritage Lottery-funded project carried out to coincide with the centenary of the war.

The resource connects users with images, documents, 3D models, artefacts and dive videos related to more than 1100 shipwrecks and archaeological sites off England’s South Coast, says the Maritime Archaeology Trust, telling “extraordinary stories” of the ships, their crews and their communities involved in the war effort.
The Forgotten Wrecks project, carried out with the help of 322 volunteers, has covered 1200 sites including 62 fieldwork sites, 200 new geophysical images, more than 700 recorded artefacts, virtual underwater tours of wreck-sites and a series of site reports.
Forty-four exhibitions attracting half a million visitors have been held based on the work, says the Maritime Archaeology Trust.
